We had a VERY full day! It began with attending service at WWII Memorial. Afterwards, I met Gary Sinise. He told me to tell my sons thank you for their service. He was very nice and cordial. Next we headed to the American History Museum where I saw the ruby red slippers Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz, one of my all time favorite movies. Other museum highlights were that of viewing the First Ladies' evening gowns, Julia Child's kitchen, and the Star Spangled Banner section which displayed the history of our National Anthem.
Washington DC hosts the largest Memorial Day Parade in the nation and we were privileged to join the throngs who lined the streets. Boy was it hot! After this, we toured the Newseum before finally heading home.
I was so tired at the end of the day but it was wonderful!
