Commandant's Own

Wonmin, Sugee are two of my co-workers. We attended a concert at the WWII Memorial of the Commandant's Own, the USMC Drum and Bugle Corps. It was a spectacular evening with perfect weather and quality musicians. We had a great time!
The band is now the only full time active duty drum corps in the United States Armed Forces. As one of many United States military bands, the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps consists of 80 active-duty Marines dressed in ceremonial red and white uniforms. The band performs martial and popular music.

Capital Hill Club

I was an invited guest to the Capital Hill Club. We enjoyed a very nice dinner and conversation.

USS Liberty

The White House Commission held a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to remember our fallen sailors and Marines from the USS Liberty. In one of the pics, I am standing with a sister of a fallen Marine. She was 16 when her family received word that her 21 year old brother had been killed 43 years ago.

Memorial Day in DC

We had a VERY full day! It began with attending service at WWII Memorial. Afterwards, I met Gary Sinise. He told me to tell my sons thank you for their service. He was very nice and cordial. Next we headed to the American History Museum where I saw the ruby red slippers Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz, one of my all time favorite movies. Other museum highlights were that of viewing the First Ladies' evening gowns, Julia Child's kitchen, and the Star Spangled Banner section which displayed the history of our National Anthem.

Washington DC hosts the largest Memorial Day Parade in the nation and we were privileged to join the throngs who lined the streets. Boy was it hot! After this, we toured the Newseum before finally heading home.

I was so tired at the end of the day but it was wonderful!
